One of the perks of being a member of The Beatles that the group had to get used to in the early days was getting to rub shoulders with the rich and famous. One of the first celebrities they met on their first trip to the U.S. was boxer Muhammad Ali (Cassius Clay at the time). Ali was training for his first fight against heavyweight champion Sonny Liston, which was scheduled for Feb. 25, 1964, at the Convention Center in Miami Beach. His meeting with the Beatles took place a week before, on Feb. 18, at the 5th Street Gym on Miami Beach, which was owned by Clay’s trainer, Angelo Dundee. This meeting led to the iconic photo of Ali posing with The Beatles.
